Tea is a beverage best enjoy in the morning, afternoon, and evening! I find that a mug of black tea with a fresh slice of lemon and a teaspoon of honey is one of the most comforting and soothing drinks in the world. And it still tastes better when my mom makes it :-)
Black (or Pekoe) Ice Tea is my go to drink every morning, as well as at night. I can't drink hot tea (sensitivity to heat and my stomach doesn't handle hot beverages well.)
This combination of articles was the best/most entertaining for me yet! Sometimes one or two don't entries don't seem to flow with the theme, and this one felt so smooth and interesting to the end. Thanks for putting this together and sharing your perspective with the world. I feel as accomplished reading this educational entertainment on a Saturday morning as if I ran a mile and drank a green smoothie!🥇
Amy, your mom had a very inviting kitchen. I can imagine sitting there in the afternoon sun with some tea and a good book. Thanks for sharing the photo and the memories.
I love tea. As a teenager, one of my favorite things to do was babysit my neighbor’s children, and then when she came home, she would out on the kettle and we would share a wonderful pot of properly-made tea, loose-leaf tea, pre-warmed pot and all. As an adult, I find I can’t tolerate tea at all. First of all, I find the caffein in it affects me vastly more than the caffeine in coffee or chocolate. Second, and possibly worse, the diuretic effects of tea have me running to the restroom every hour on the hour for at least 24 hours after I drink it. Staying wide awake all night and constantly going to the bathroom kind of spoil the enjoyment of drinking tea anymore for me, sadly!
Never liked coffee, or even mocha. Tea is it for me. Hot or iced. And, as an introvert who can be "on" (as my mother would say), time alone is essential. The children's book, A Cheerful Quiet by Betty Horvath illustrates it perfectly.
I too love people but NEED to be alone. And visual cues are so helpful. "Tea Alone" is poetic and so much lovelier than me threatening to march around the house sporting a crab hat.

Hey Amy. - reading these comments, even your readers are thoughtful. Yes, it seems a thoughtful bunch.

What a beautiful kitchen; and desk. Everyone, slow down!
Green tea is the one for me... alone in my recliner with a good book and a couple of cookies. Thanks for the memories of Mom's kitchen, Amy!
