Thank you for these thoughts! I have 3 pets and numerous drop in bird and insect friends in SoCal who come and go whenever the doors - sans screens- are open. We all must share this space. And what is the deal with all these automatic litter boxes? If one ever works, let us know!

If deer don't like lupines, I'll try some. I've got a coneflower explosion going here and deer don't bother those at all. Hugely satisfying when I have to put deer netting over all the daylilies.

I simply gave up on anything they eat. But it turns out that they will eat most things -- even roses!
