Love the reference to Enchanted April - not many have read it (but have seen the movie)

I did not realize you had been blessed with orange cats from a very young age, just like me! I too grew up on a farm in western NY (west of you), and had my share of cats (many orange favorites). Still have orange cats, just no longer on the farm in WNY. I now have orange indoor city cats! Love them.

Love the feline stories! I can relate.

Yes to the cats: my last was Idgie, a shy one (name from Fried Green Tomatoes) who was with me the longest. I still miss her. Thanks for this Issue #7 - heartwarming!

I’ve had many black cats over the years who have adopted me. I think it may be time for and orange tabby. Thanks for improving my mood.

I’m enjoying the newsletter. The gifs can be really distracting though, and in the case of the dumbbell one, kinda gross.

From another cat lover, thank you! How our fur babies enrich our lives...

Thank you for this! Very timely. I've had cats my whole life and just lost my cat, Shadow, on March 28. She would have been 21 on May 9th. We've been together since she was 3 mos old and almost half my life.

Oh I'm so sorry about Shadow! This is so tough.

Our big cat, white with black markings, looks like a Norwegian Forest Cat with a “Medicine Hat”. He rescued us last May. Zeus is the best thing that came out of 2020. He was born on the Skokomish Indian Reservation on the Hood Canal. A wild thing that no one claimed or took care of. When he matured and started marking, a war was started between 2 families. One wanted to save him, & the other wanted to put him in a sack and throw him in the river. Our local no-kill shelter, Feline Friends of Olympia, was called & Jo MacGugan, the founder, who grew up on the reservation immediately drove out to save him. I volunteered at The Cat House for many years, so we were allowed during the Pandemic lookdown to come visit, & look for a new best friend after losing our orange tabby named Mini.

I read your writings daily in the Seattle Times and now online.

Many thanks

Susan

I love cats so much but I’m so allergic so I follow dozens of Twitter cat accounts and that makes me happy

Hi Amy, I've read your column for ages, was introduced to you on Wait Wait, and a photo of you by my husband *almost* got put into the NPR book, from a WWDTM taping. I love this new column of yours! The cat piece had me laughing and thinking of my beloved Ricochet The Wonder-Dummy, the one who chose me. I have Ozzie & Prism now, they're "interesting" (like the Chinese proverb "may you live in interesting times"!) and keep us on our toes!
