This nugget of a newsletter is intended to highlight “one good thing” I’ve witnessed or experienced over the previous few days. Sometimes these good things are collective experiences, but more often my practice is to introduce a good thing drawn from my own life. My goal is to burnish these moments for my own benefit – and to inspire others to do the same.
The world seems to be particularly challenging these days. I topped off this past week (you probably did, too) watching Congressional hearings about the January 6th insurrection. And while there were many highlighted and inspiring examples of flat-out bravery (we’re looking at you, officer Caroline Edwards!), I was left with a sense of absolutely burning outrage.
But yesterday, I rode atop a float in my hometown’s annual Dairy Day parade.
Do these two experiences cancel each other out? No. They reside alongside each other.
But every single aspect of this latter experience filled me with complete and total happiness.
I’m talking about a sterling feeling of joy that I had at the same time that I had the experience – and not only in retrospect.
I hope you enjoy these photos I snapped along the way, celebrating my One Good Thing: Dairy Day Edition.
