Hi Readers!
One of my favorite views — timeless and lovely, especially in summer [photo by Amy]
Happy summer! Where I live, the corn growing in the fields surrounding my home stands well over my head. My world is now lush and so very green. Box fans stand in all of our open windows, blowing the cool night air into the stuffy upstairs rooms. These are supplemented by smaller fans, pointed directly at us.
Subsequent to leaving my job as “Ask Amy,” I’ve picked up many new subscribers to both my “Asking Amy” and my “One Good Thing” newsletters. I’m so very grateful for these new readers who have purchased a subscription to “One Good Thing” — and I feel a special gratitude and affection to those subscribers who have been with this essay-driven newsletter from the start. Doing this work has helped me to make the transition to a new phase of my life and work.
To celebrate and to thank all of you, I am “pausing” all subscription costs for the month of August. Take a breather!
This means that you will NOT receive that sometimes mysterious charge on your credit card statement signifying you as a subscriber and supporter of my One Good Thing newsletter.
During this time, I will continue to offer weekly home-grown essays (along with my sometimes blurry photos) — all generated from my bespoke brain and all pointed toward at least One Good Thing.
Love,
Amy
What a beautiful view!
Box fans brings back a childhood memory of sharing one with my parents. The fan was in the hallway pointed at both bedrooms. It was a big deal when we upgraded to air conditioners in the windows!
We use column fans or ceiling fans in most of our rooms to supplement the AC so I can keep the thermostat set higher. It's been a humid summer here in SE Michigan, so I wish we had a whole house dehumidifier that would run without the AC. Oh well, it is a beautiful summer with all the green everywhere.
